Excited but nervous
25th August

Summer has been so wierd, I was worried it would be like last year where I spent everyday worried about what my results would be. This year I only spent the first week of summer worrying and a few days before I got my results. It was a major shock when I found that I had gotten an A* (over 90% in a subject) in my psychology subject. The college I studied at doesnt get many people brilliant results compared to other colleges in the area. I am super happy about this grade because I did the subject in a one year duration as opposed to the norm which was to do the course in two years. Once I got my results and I was relieved, the teacher told me press would be coming to talk to me, I just thought ‘what?!!’ My face was on one fo the local paper’s front page and there was an article about me inside. As embarassing as it was being in the local paper I can’t help but feel a little pleased because I am hoping this would show my parents that I’m not some stupid failure that they think I am.

I’ve gotten into my university choice, University of Manchester, a top university, to study Business Studies and Economics. However I hope to transfer during the year to just Economics or Economics and Politics instead. I am so excited about starting the course, but also really nervous. My major worry I have (I worry a lot!) is:
Not making any close friends—I’m travelling to the uni every weekday via train, as opposed to staying at university accomodation. I wanted to stay in the accommodation but my parents are being unreasonable. Commuting to uni means that I wont have any friends that you could make by living in university accommodation and its going to be difficult to make friends with people on my degree course since the course is very big so everyone will be doing their own thing. Hopefully I will make a few friends by joining clubs/societies but yeah this is my biggest worry.

Overall the summer has been quite nice, I went to London for a bit—majority of the summer has been spent at home though. The weather was lovely for the first two or three weeks then it just decided to become British again and all wet/cold :( I’ve all been job hunting for 4 months but it’s been incredibly tough.

Oh and it was my birthday on Tuesday…. my parents forgot =/

Changes
8th July

I’m thinking of changing this website alltogether. Although its nice to get a couple of hundred hits each day mostly through affiliate links. I am thinking of removing my affiliate list and just keeping a very selet few who would be put alongside some other websites that are design websites or political ones. I’m thinking of changing changing my style of design as well—moving to things that are based on things I’ve noticed in life. Might be doing a layout featuring eyes soon :) Also I’ve got a few brushes resources to put up btw, mainly ‘paint stroke’ ones if anyone is interested.

Here’s an interesting fact:
According to a report by Brandeis University in Massachusetts.
“African-Americans and Hispanics were at least twice as likely to receive high-cost home mortgages as whites with similar incomes”
Why do black people get higher mortgage costs even when they have similar incomes to a white person?
