Get More Hits

Getting traffic is very important because what's the point of making a site if nobody goes on it. Starting up a new site can be very difficult to get loads of hits. Fear not! There are many ways to get more hits. Please do know that getting lots of hits takes time and to keep them increasing on a daily basis takes even more time.

Getting Noticed

You may have loads of great visitor content on your site but you need more people visiting. You have to get noticed and lure visitors on to your site.
Advertising: Lots of sites offer free advertising, so go ahead and apply for them, some may require a link back but you'll still be making more page views. Plugboards are also good way to get a few hits; plenty of sites have them on a certain page so why not plug your link button? Paid Advertising brings loads of hits, apply for sites that relate to your site such as graphic sites that way you will target your visitor audience better.
Affiliates: Being affiliated with other people is great way to get visitors plus the affiliates themselves will visit your site. Apply for a few decent sites then once you get accepted work your way up to the popular sites to gain even more hits. Try to have a good layout to attract potential affiliates. Link exchanges are much more easier to obtain, though they get less hits they still do bring some in.
Commenting: I visit loads of sites and often comment them. I was surprised to see the number of hits I got from them. Read people's blogs and comment them, don't just write 'visit my site' or 'cool site' try to bring up conversation and relate to their blog. Sometimes I am first to comment on blogs and I noticed you can get a little extra hits from that aswell :)

Keep Them Coming!

After getting a good number of hits you'll need to maintain that by making visitors come back to your site.
Blogs: People may only visit your site just to read your blog so keep it interesting. Don't blog like it's a record of your daily routines, 'Today I woke up at 8am then had Cheerios and got ready for school and saw my friends at school who were at the same lessons as me' or don't blog like this 'OmG ThIs tOtAL B1tCH Cald AsHleY K pULD RebEcCa R.'s Hair Out it Wuz FunnYY' or don't even do this 'the weather is crap, i hate my life why do i exist? i cant be bothered with this site anymore. i hate life it is shit.' No! do not blog like that, make your blogs interesting, try adding sarcasm. The odd rant and opinionated blog is always nice.
Visitor Content: People probably will only come back to your site if you have something worth going for. So why not provide some resources for your visitors? If you have some great brushes, layouts, textures and other things. They will surely keep visitors interested in your site. Visitors will credit you for all the things the have used. This means more hits!
Layout: Your site layout doesn't have to be the best in the world, all you have to do is try to be original, have a nice colour scheme - too bright colours will be unbearable and make sure your site works in more than one browser, the major browers are Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari. Have a good font size and line height.

Thats about it folks just remember hits are not everything, good feedback and lovely comments make having a site worth while. Most of all be patient.
